It would appear the guys at MGM have made their first casting decision with regard to Stargate Universe.

The military leader of the 'happy band' will apparently be Robert Carlyle.

My initial reaction was 'hmmm', but I'm now thinking he might be just the gritty, witty leader we need for this

Oh ... outstanding ... he's played Hitler on TV (IMDB.com)

Actually looking at his picture reminds me of the lunatic fringe special ops guy from the season one episode "The First Commandment"

Oh good god, I hope not! It's been a few years since 'The Full Monty' - and I don't think it was a pretty sight to start with (from reviews I read).

He was last seen as a reformed Marine looking after African orphans in '24: Redemption'.

I still don't see him as the SG sort :S

I agree Carter...from looking at recent pics of him...there's going to be a 'proving ground' he's going to have to overcome.

I'm hugely disappointed with the lose of SGA.

It may have had its critics during the middle seasons, but I really feel that in Season 5 it refound itself.

Can't wait to hear who the other cast members are going to be though for SG:U
