Stargate Props and Costumes

Hi everyone,

I'm working on my first Stargate prop build and decided to start with a ZPM replica. I've gathered a bunch of reference photos, but I'm having trouble figuring out what material would give the best balance between accuracy and durability.

My first attempt used clear resin, but it ended up looking too cloudy and didn't diffuse the LEDs the way I expected. I've seen some amazing builds here and was wondering what materials or techniques you would recommend for the crystal sections PolyTrack .

Also, if anyone has advice on painting the internal details without losing the translucent effect, I'd really appreciate it.
