I'm a long time SG cosplayer. I was recently accepted into Nordic Reel Icons and I've been trooping for charity since December 2015.

I had the opportunity to talk to Amanda Tapping about it when she visited Malmö this spring. She thought the same as you do!
The Nordic Reel Icons are a new group. Only a year old right now. In essence we work under the aegis of the Star Wars groups in the Nordic countries. The same way that it works in the UK and has for meny years now.
We are unfortunately on probation and there's a vote ongoing as to whether we outsiders are allowed to stay in with the Star Wars clubs. A very divisive question apparently. Much politics, lots of vitriol and unpleasantness.

Either way, The Reel Icons will continue to work for good in some form or other. It would be great to do something for Sanctuary for Kids for example
