It’s official as of this week, the Amazon acquisition of MGM has been approved by regulators. The sale will now be allowed to continue.
Amazon Studios has already conferenced with MGM leadership, and has signaled that they are maintaining the current MGM structure (at least for now).
It is likely that we will see Amazon make announcements about new material soon. Whether that includes Stargate is yet to be seen, but as the various streaming providers fight for dominance it’s in Amazon’s interest to capitalize on their new intellectual property. Stargate is popular (as evidenced by websites like SG1Props) and so it makes sense that new Stargate will be around the corner.
