According to this article, Scifi Channel is not going to pick up Stargate Atlantis after season 5.

Will another network pick up the show? How many DVD movies will there be? Will this be a repeat of the many "last seasons" that Stargate SG-1 had?

We'll have to wait and see, but if the past is any indication the future of the franchise could be down to the fan base reaction to this latest news.

Ah, you beat me to it!

A tinge of sadness has overcome me, thinking that this might be the end of the whole SG/SGA saga.

I know there are a lot of people who feel that Atlantis has lost its way, with its continuing shift in characters and leaders, but I still enjoy tuning in weekly. I believe some characters have actually got stronger as the years have gone by.

I look forward to the movies/DVDs but one, maybe two, of these a year won't be the same as my weekly SG fix.

There's going to be an official press release today, so let's hope all the questions are answered then.

Don't be too sad Colonel, after all there is that new series supposedly in the works too. Maybe there will even be some Atlantis crossovers into it.

We can only hope for more SG goodness to come.

Oh, and don't worry if you beat me to posting any updates on that press release. Sometimes when I put my ear to the ground I get comfortable and fall asleep

I've not heard too much about this new Stargate Universe that has been banded about.

It would be nice if some of the stronger characters migrated over to it though, but only time will tell.

Unfortunately I can't get excited about Stargate Worlds as I'm not a gamer.
