A lot of new authors seem surprised by how much can happen after the manuscript is finished. Finding an illustrator, agreeing on the cover, sorting out printing and distribution can all become separate jobs. With childrens book publishers Canada, I’d want to know upfront what they actually handle and what still falls back on the author. Has anyone run into unexpected costs or responsibilities during publishing?
